Country Study
Choose a country from the list or one of your own choice. Research population changes in your chosen country and what has led to these population changes. Predict future developments and potential problems with respect to overpopulation or underpopulation, their effect on social services and that country's economic performance. Provide ideas how political leaders could address the problems linked to the population problems you have identified.
Sample countries:
Japan
Haiti
Ivory Coast
Italy
Bolivia
Philippines
Sweden
Criteria:
1. Describe the current population in detail; back this up by producing a population graph.
2. Explain how this population developed and how it fits into the Demographic Transition Model or Malthus' theories. Include relevant discussions on dependency.
3. Predict what the population will be like in 50 years; explain why it will look this way.
4. Identify social and economic problems connected to the population development.
5. Address solutions to these problems.
Due date: April 8. 10% off each day late
